The Samsung Galaxy S26+ is the middle model of the Galaxy S26 series. Samsung announced it on February 25, 2026, alongside the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 Ultra. Sales started on March 11, 2026. In the US, it launched at $1,099.99 for the 256GB version, which is $100 more than the Galaxy S25+. The phone targets buyers who want a large flagship screen without paying for the Ultra.
Design and display
The Galaxy S26+ measures 158.4 x 75.8 x 7.3 mm and weighs 190 grams. It has an Armor Aluminum frame with glass on both sides. Samsung lists Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for the front and the back. The phone also carries an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
The display is a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with QHD+ resolution (1440 x 3120). Its adaptive refresh rate runs from 1Hz to 120Hz. Samsung quotes a peak brightness of 2,600 nits. In addition, an ultrasonic fingerprint reader sits under the screen. Compared with the previous model, Samsung redesigned the camera island on the back.
Performance
In the US, the Galaxy S26+ runs on a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 tuned for Galaxy phones. This version pushes its two prime cores to 4.74GHz, up from 4.61GHz on the standard chip. In Europe and many other regions, however, the phone uses Samsung’s own Exynos 2600 instead. Every version comes with 12GB of RAM. Storage options are 256GB or 512GB, and there is no microSD slot.
Samsung claims 17% faster CPU and 23% better graphics performance than the Galaxy S25+. The phone also gets a redesigned vapor chamber for cooling. Ray tracing is supported in compatible games.
Cameras
The rear camera system has three lenses. The main camera uses a 50MP 1/1.56-inch sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilization. Next to it, a 12MP ultrawide camera covers a 120-degree field of view. A 10MP telephoto camera adds 3x optical zoom, also with OIS. Digital zoom reaches 30x. On the front, there is a 12MP selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture.
The camera hardware is the same as on the previous generation. Instead, the changes come from image processing. Samsung added Nightography Video for low light and a Horizontal Lock option in Super Steady mode. The selfie camera now also benefits from the AI ISP for more natural skin tones.
Battery and charging
The Galaxy S26+ has a 4,900mAh battery, the same capacity as its predecessor. Wired charging peaks at 45W, and Samsung says the phone reaches 69% in about 30 minutes. Wireless charging rises from 15W to 20W and uses the Qi2 standard. However, the phone has no built-in magnets, so magnetic accessories need a compatible case. Wireless PowerShare can top up earbuds or a watch. No charger comes in the box.
Software and updates
The phone launched with Android 16 and One UI 8.5. Samsung promises seven Android version upgrades and seven years of security updates. Galaxy AI features include Photo Assist, Now Nudge, Now Brief, and Creative Studio. Users can also choose between Bixby, Gemini, and Perplexity as assistants. Finally, Quick Share can send files to Apple devices that support AirDrop.
Should you buy the Galaxy S26+?
The Galaxy S26+ suits buyers who want a 6.7-inch QHD+ screen and a 4,900mAh battery in a 7.3 mm body. It also fits people who keep a phone for many years, thanks to the seven-year update promise. On the other hand, Galaxy S25+ owners get the same cameras, battery, and wired charging speed. Buyers who want a 5x zoom camera, 60W charging, or a Privacy Display should look at the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Outside the US, check which chipset your region’s model uses.
