The Ulefone Armor Mini 5 is a small rugged phone that mixes a classic keypad with a 2.8-inch touchscreen. Ulefone announced its global launch on June 2, 2026, and it went on sale the same day. The global launch price is $109.99, with a limited-time launch offer of $89.99 in the Ulefone Official Store. Ulefone positions it as a secondary phone and a tool for a digital detox.
Design and display
The phone looks like a classic feature phone. It has a full T9 keypad under a small 2.8-inch touch display. The screen resolution is 240 x 320 pixels, so text and images look basic. Ulefone says the keypad allows blind operation, even with thick gloves.
The body is built for rough use. It carries IP68 and IP69K ratings and meets MIL-STD-810H, according to Ulefone. The phone can stay in water up to 2 meters deep for 30 minutes. Rubber plugs cover the USB-C port and the 3.5 mm headphone jack. It measures 142 x 62 x 16.5 mm and weighs 170 grams. The only color is Black with yellow accents.
Performance
Inside is the quad-core MediaTek MT6739, an entry-level chip first introduced in 2017. It works with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. A microSD card adds up to 64GB more. This is enough for calls, texts, music and WhatsApp, but not for demanding apps or games.
The phone supports 4G LTE but not 5G. It has a dedicated microSD slot next to two Nano-SIM slots. Wi-Fi works on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. An FM radio is built in.
Cameras
Both cameras use 0.3MP sensors, so they are only suitable for quick snapshots. The rear camera has a flash and records video up to 1080p. The front camera records video up to 720p. Photo quality is not a focus of this phone.
Battery and charging
The Armor Mini 5 has a removable 2,500mAh battery. Ulefone rates it for up to 311 hours of standby and up to 11 hours of talk time. The company also claims up to 12 days of moderate use. Charging is slow at 5W over USB-C. Because the battery is removable, a spare one can extend the time between charges.
Software and updates
The phone runs Android 11, which was released in 2020. WhatsApp comes pre-installed for chats, voice messages and video calls. Other Android apps can be installed, but the small screen and 1GB of RAM limit what runs well. Ulefone has not announced any Android version upgrades or a security update period.
Should you buy the Ulefone Armor Mini 5?
The Armor Mini 5 suits people who want a tough backup phone with physical keys. It also fits workers in harsh places who mainly need calls, texts and WhatsApp. The removable battery, headphone jack and microSD slot are practical extras. However, it is a poor main smartphone. The chip is old, RAM is tiny, and it runs Android 11. Buyers who need modern apps should look at a larger rugged model.
