The Xiaomi 12T is the standard model of the 2022 T series. Xiaomi announced it on October 4, 2022, together with the 12T Pro. Sales started on October 13, 2022. In Germany, it launched at €599.90 for the 8 GB + 128 GB version. Xiaomi has since replaced it with the Xiaomi 13T, and most of its European stores no longer sell it.
Design and display
The 12T has a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with 2712 x 1220 pixels and 446 ppi. The refresh rate adapts between 30, 60, 90 and 120 Hz. Peak brightness is 900 nits, and the panel supports HDR10+. Gorilla Glass 5 protects the front.
The phone measures 163.1 x 75.9 x 8.6 mm and weighs 202 g. It uses a glass back and a plastic frame. There is no official IP rating. Xiaomi sold it in Black, Silver and Blue.
Performance
The phone runs on the Dimensity 8100 in a version that Xiaomi calls Dimensity 8100-Ultra. It is a 5 nm chip with four Cortex-A78 cores at up to 2.85 GHz. The GPU is a Mali-G610 MC6. Xiaomi offered 8 GB + 128 GB and 8 GB + 256 GB versions. Memory is LPDDR5 RAM with UFS 3.1 storage, and there is no microSD slot.
The 12T Pro uses a different chip. It also has a 200 MP main camera instead of 108 MP. The screen, battery and charging speed are the same.
Cameras
The main camera has a 108 MP sensor with a 1/1.67-inch size. It uses an f/1.7 lens with optical stabilization. An 8 MP ultrawide camera and a 2 MP macro camera sit next to it. Rear video tops out at 4K at 30 fps. The 20 MP front camera records up to 1080p at 60 fps.
Battery and charging
A 5,000 mAh battery powers the phone. It supports 120 W wired charging, and the charger is in the box. Xiaomi quotes a full charge in 19 minutes. Wireless charging is not supported.
Software and updates
The 12T launched with MIUI 13 on Android 12. Xiaomi promised three major Android updates and four years of security patches. Its support page lists October 13, 2026, as the end of security updates. The phone also has NFC, an IR blaster, stereo speakers and an in-display fingerprint reader.
Should you buy the Xiaomi 12T?
The Xiaomi 12T offers a sharp 120 Hz screen, a capable chip and very fast charging. Its security updates have ended, though, which limits its value as a daily phone today. It also has no water resistance and no wireless charging. Buyers who need software support should consider its successor, the Xiaomi 13T.
