The Rock 3 is a 4G rugged phone from Blackview with a built-in thermal camera. It was announced and went on sale in February 2026. It comes in a single 8GB + 256GB version. The phone targets technicians, field workers and outdoor users who want thermal imaging without a separate accessory.

Design and display

The body measures 181 x 82 x 18.1 mm and weighs 388 g. That makes it a large and heavy device. It has an aluminum alloy frame and reinforced shockproof corners. Blackview rates it IP68 and IP69K, and it is certified to MIL-STD-810H. According to the maker, it survives 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes.

The front has a 6.78-inch IPS LCD with 1080 x 2460 resolution and 396 ppi. The refresh rate goes up to 120Hz, and brightness reaches 750 nits. Gorilla Glass 3 covers the screen, and Glove Mode 2.0 lets you use it with gloves on. A 400-lumen LED flashlight is built into the body.

Performance

The phone runs on the MediaTek Helio G100, a 6nm entry-level chip. It has two Cortex-A76 cores at 2.2 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0 GHz, plus a Mali-G57 GPU. There is 8GB of RAM, which can be extended by up to 24GB of virtual memory. Storage is 256GB, and a microSD card of up to 2TB fits in the hybrid slot.

Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.2 and GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou and QZSS. The phone works on 2G, 3G and 4G networks only, so there is no 5G. It also has an infrared blaster and dual box speakers.

Cameras

The main rear camera uses a 108MP Samsung HM6 sensor. Next to it sits a 160 x 120 thermal camera. Its field of view is 61 x 47 degrees. It detects temperatures from -15 to 550 degrees Celsius, with a stated accuracy of plus or minus 3 degrees. The thermal app can measure points, lines, boxes and circles, set temperature alarms and export PDF reports.

On the front, there is a 50MP Samsung JN1 selfie camera. Blackview lists 2K video recording with a full manual Pro mode.

Battery and charging

The Rock 3 has a 10,000mAh battery. It supports 27W wired charging and 15W wireless charging. Blackview also lists 10W reverse charging, so the phone can top up small accessories. The maker claims up to 43 hours of talk time and 11 hours of video playback.

Software and updates

The phone ships with DokeOS 5.0 based on Android 16. Blackview promises OTA updates. However, it has not said how many years of Android or security updates the phone will get. The software includes Doke AI 2.0 tools and a toolbox with a compass, sound meter and protractor.

Should you buy the Blackview Rock 3?

The Rock 3 suits electricians, HVAC workers and inspectors who need a thermal camera in a tough phone. Its 10,000mAh battery, wireless charging and bright flashlight also help on long outdoor trips. However, the Helio G100 is an entry-level chip, and the phone has no 5G. The 388 g weight and 18.1 mm thickness also make it hard to carry in a pocket. If you do not need thermal imaging, a cheaper rugged phone may make more sense.
