The HONOR Magic6 Lite is a mid-range 5G phone and the first model of the Magic6 series. HONOR announced it on December 5, 2023. Sales started in Italy on January 3, 2024, followed by the UK and Germany. In Europe, it launched at €399.90, and in the UK at £349.99. Outside Europe, the same phone is sold as the HONOR X9b.
Design and display
The phone has a 6.78-inch curved AMOLED screen with a 1200 x 2652 resolution and 429 ppi. It refreshes at up to 120Hz and reaches 1,200 nits of peak brightness. HONOR also uses 1920Hz PWM dimming for low brightness levels.
The display uses HONOR’s Ultra-Bounce anti-drop design, and the phone earned a five-star SGS drop resistance rating. The body is 7.98 mm thick and weighs about 185 grams. It has a plastic frame and an IP53 rating against dust and splashes.
Colors are Midnight Black, Emerald Green and Sunrise Orange in Europe. The orange model has a vegan leather back. Latin American stores also list Titanium Silver.
Performance
Inside is the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, a 4 nm octa-core chip with an Adreno 710 GPU. Its fastest cores run at 2.2GHz. It replaces the Snapdragon 695 of the Magic5 Lite.
In Europe, the only version has 8GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. RAM Turbo can add up to 8GB of virtual memory from storage. There is no microSD card slot.
Cameras
The rear setup has three cameras. The main sensor has 108MP and an f/1.75 lens. It is joined by a 5MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP macro camera. The main camera records video in 4K at 30 fps.
A 16MP selfie camera sits in a centered punch-hole. It records video in 1080p at 30 fps.
Battery and charging
The European and UK model has a 5,300mAh battery, with a rated capacity of 5,200mAh. Latin American versions list a 5,800mAh battery. Wired charging reaches 35W. There is no wireless charging, and the European box does not include a charger.
Software and updates
The Magic6 Lite shipped with MagicOS 7.2 based on Android 13. HONOR promised two Android upgrades and three years of security patches. That support is shorter than many rivals from Samsung or Nothing.
Other features include NFC, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1 and dual nano-SIM slots. There is no eSIM support. Unlocking uses an optical in-display fingerprint sensor or 2D face recognition.
Should you buy the Magic6 Lite?
The Magic6 Lite suits buyers who want a large curved AMOLED screen and a big battery at a mid-range price. Its slim body and drop-resistant display are also practical.
Keep its limits in mind. It has a single speaker, Wi-Fi 5, no headphone jack and only two OS upgrades. HONOR has also released a successor, the Magic7 Lite, with a larger battery.
