The Moto G (2025) is an entry-level 5G phone from Motorola. It was announced on January 14, 2025, and went on sale in the US on January 30, 2025. The unlocked model with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage launched at $199.99. It replaced the Moto G 5G (2024).
Design and display
The phone has a vegan leather back that wraps around a raised camera housing. It comes in Forest Gray and Sapphire Blue. The body measures 167.05 x 76.30 x 8.16 mm and weighs 193 grams. It carries an IP52 rating, so it can handle light splashes but not submersion.
The 6.7-inch LCD has a 1604 x 720 resolution and a 263 ppi density. It refreshes at up to 120Hz. Corning Gorilla Glass 3 covers the screen.
Performance
The phone runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 6300. This 6nm chip has an octa-core CPU that peaks at 2.4GHz. Graphics come from an Arm Mali-G57 MC2 GPU.
There is 4GB of RAM, and RAM Boost can use storage as extra virtual memory. Storage is 64GB or 128GB, depending on the version. A microSD slot accepts cards up to 1TB.
Cameras
The main rear camera uses a 50MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and Quad Pixel binning. A 2MP macro camera sits next to it. The third circle in the camera housing is an ambient light sensor, not a camera.
The front camera has 16MP, double the resolution of the 8MP selfie camera on the previous model. Both the main and front cameras record video at up to 1080p and 30 frames per second.
Battery and charging
The battery has a capacity of 5,000mAh. Wired charging is rated at up to 30W, up from 18W on the Moto G 5G (2024). There is no wireless charging. A charger is not included in the box, only a USB cable.
Software and updates
The Moto G (2025) launched with Android 15. It was among the first Motorola phones to ship with that version. Motorola promised two Android upgrades and three years of security updates.
The phone keeps a 3.5mm headphone jack and adds stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos. NFC, Wi-Fi 5 and a Nano SIM plus eSIM are also included. Unlocking works with a fingerprint reader or face unlock.
Should you buy the Moto G (2025)?
This phone suits buyers who want a low-cost 5G phone with long battery life. A headphone jack, microSD support and IP52 protection add practical value. The 30W charging is faster than on the previous model.
However, the screen is only HD+, and the phone has 4GB of RAM. There is no ultrawide camera. Buyers who need more memory or a stronger water rating may prefer the Moto G Power (2025).
