The OPPO Find X8 is a compact flagship phone with a 6.59-inch screen. It has three 50 MP Hasselblad cameras. OPPO announced it in China on October 24, 2024, and sales there started on October 30. The global launch followed on November 21, 2024, in Bali. In China, prices started at CNY 4,199 for the 12 GB + 256 GB model. The phone is not sold in the US or Europe, and it mainly targets Asian markets.
Design and display
The Find X8 uses a glass back and an aluminum frame. It weighs 193 g and is 7.85 mm thick, while the Shell Pink version is 7.95 mm. The flat 6.59-inch AMOLED screen has a 2760 x 1256 resolution, 460 ppi and a 120 Hz refresh rate. In addition, its bezels measure 1.45 mm on all four sides, the thinnest on any OPPO phone so far.
Brightness reaches 1,600 nits in high brightness mode and 4,500 nits at peak. Corning Gorilla Glass 7i covers the front. The phone is rated IP68 and IP69, so it resists submersion and hot, high-pressure water jets. It also passed an SGS drop test and a Chinese military-grade shock test.
Performance
The phone runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 9400, built on a 3 nm process. Its fastest CPU core runs at 3.63 GHz, and the GPU is an Immortalis-G925 MC12. Global models offer 12/256 GB or 16/512 GB. Memory is LPDDR5X, and storage is UFS 4.0. China also gets 16/256 GB, 12/512 GB and 16 GB/1 TB versions. There is no microSD slot.
Cameras
All three rear cameras use 50 MP sensors. The main camera has a 1/1.56-inch sensor, an f/1.8 lens and optical stabilization. Next to it sits a 15 mm ultrawide camera with autofocus. The third camera is a 3x periscope telephoto with a 1/1.95-inch Sony LYT-600 sensor and optical stabilization.
Every camera, including the 32 MP selfie camera, records 4K video at 60 fps with Dolby Vision HDR. AI Telescope Zoom reaches 60x. Lightning Snap shoots bursts at up to seven frames per second.
Battery and charging
A 5,630 mAh silicon-carbon battery powers the Find X8. It supports 80 W SUPERVOOC wired charging and 50 W AIRVOOC wireless charging. Moreover, the phone can charge other devices with 10 W reverse wireless charging. The global retail box includes a charger and a protective case.
Software and updates
The phone launched with ColorOS 15 based on Android 15. OPPO promises five major Android updates and six years of security patches. ColorOS 15 adds Google Gemini, Circle to Search and several AI tools for photo editing and writing. Touch to Share also lets users send files to an iPhone with a tap.
Should you buy the OPPO Find X8?
The Find X8 suits buyers who want an easy-to-hold flagship. It pairs a flat screen with a 3x periscope camera. Its large battery, fast wired and wireless charging, and IP69 rating are strong points. On the other hand, OPPO does not officially sell it in the US or Europe. OPPO has also released the Find X9 as its successor. Buyers who need a second, longer telephoto lens should look at the Find X8 Pro.
