The OPPO Reno12 F 5G is an affordable member of the Reno12 series. OPPO introduced it in June 2024 for global markets. In Europe and the UK, the same phone also sells as the Reno12 FS 5G. In India, the same model, CPH2637, is sold as the OPPO F27 5G. OPPO also sells a separate 4G phone called the Reno12 F. The phone is not sold in the US.
Design and display
The Reno12 F 5G has a flat 6.67-inch OLED screen. Its resolution is 2400 x 1080 pixels. The panel refreshes at up to 120Hz. OPPO rates typical brightness at 600 nits and local peak brightness at 2,100 nits. AGC DT-Star2 glass protects the front.
The phone measures about 163.1 x 75.8 x 7.76 mm and weighs about 187 grams. It has an IP64 rating for dust and water splashes. OPPO also adds Splash Touch, so the screen works with wet fingers. Global colors are Olive Green and Amber Orange.
Performance
The phone uses the MediaTek Dimensity 6300. This 6nm chip has two Cortex-A76 cores at up to 2.4 GHz and a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. Versions with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of UFS 2.2 storage are available. A microSD card slot adds more space.
The 4G Reno12 F uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 685 instead and has no 5G. The Reno12 F 5G supports Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3 and NFC.
Cameras
The rear has three cameras. The main camera has 50MP, an f/1.8 lens and autofocus, but no optical stabilization. An 8MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP macro camera join it. The front camera has 32MP. Rear video tops out at 1080p and 60 frames per second. The Indian F27 5G drops the ultrawide camera and keeps a 50MP main and 2MP sensor.
Battery and charging
The battery has a typical capacity of 5,000mAh. It supports 45W SUPERVOOC wired charging. There is no wireless charging. In the UK, the box does not include a charger.
Software and updates
The phone launched with ColorOS 14 based on Android 14. It includes OPPO AI features such as AI Eraser, AI Studio and AI Recording Summary. OPPO also claims 50 months of fluency protection from its lab tests. It has not published a fixed number of OS updates.
Should you buy the Reno12 F 5G?
The Reno12 F 5G suits budget buyers who want a large 120Hz OLED screen and lots of storage. Stereo speakers and microSD support add value. However, the Dimensity 6300 is an entry-level chip, and the main camera lacks stabilization. OPPO has since released the Reno13 F 5G as its successor.
