The Samsung Galaxy A06 5G is the first 5G phone in the entry-level Galaxy A0x series from Samsung. It was announced and went on sale in India on February 19, 2025. Prices there started at ₹10,499 for 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. It later reached Southeast Asia, Latin America and Africa. It is not sold in the US.
It is the 5G version of the Galaxy A06, which uses an older 4G chip. In India, Samsung also sells the same phone as the Galaxy M06 5G and the Galaxy F06 5G.
Design and display
The phone keeps the look of the 4G model. It has a striped back and a raised Key Island strip for the side buttons. It measures 167.3 x 77.3 x 8.0 mm and weighs 191 g. It has an IP54 rating, so it handles dust and light splashes.
The 6.7-inch PLS LCD has a 720 x 1600 resolution and a water-drop notch. The refresh rate goes up to 90 Hz.
Performance
The phone runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 6300, a 6 nm chip. It has two Cortex-A76 cores at 2.4 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0 GHz. Graphics use a Mali-G57 MC2.
Compared with the 4G Galaxy A06 and its Helio G85, the A06 5G adds 5G and a faster CPU. It also gets a 90 Hz screen instead of 60 Hz and an IP54 rating. The cameras and the battery are the same on both phones.
Memory options are 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM with 64 GB or 128 GB of storage. A microSD card can add up to 1.5 TB, but it shares the slot with the second SIM. Samsung India says the phone supports 12 5G bands.
Cameras
The main rear camera has 50 MP, an f/1.8 lens and autofocus. Next to it sits a 2 MP depth sensor. There is no ultrawide camera. The front camera has 8 MP and an f/2.0 lens. Video recording tops out at 1080p and 30 fps.
Battery and charging
A 5,000 mAh battery powers the phone. It supports 25 W wired charging over USB-C. Samsung’s in-box list shows the phone, a USB-C cable, a SIM tool and a guide. The charger is sold separately. There is no wireless charging.
Software and updates
The Galaxy A06 5G launched with Android 15 and One UI 7. Samsung promises four major Android upgrades and four years of security updates. That is twice as many OS upgrades as the 4G model gets. It has since received Android 16 with One UI 8 and One UI 8.5.
Other features include a fingerprint sensor, Knox Vault, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.3. There is no NFC.
Should you buy the Galaxy A06 5G?
The Galaxy A06 5G suits buyers who want 5G and long software support on a tight budget. The 90 Hz screen, IP54 rating and four OS upgrades set it apart from the 4G model. On the other hand, the HD+ panel, the basic camera setup and the missing NFC are limits. The Galaxy A07 5G now follows it with the same chip.
