The Samsung Galaxy A56 5G is the top model of Samsung’s 2025 Galaxy A lineup. Samsung announced it on March 2, 2025, alongside the Galaxy A36 5G and Galaxy A26 5G. It reached the US in July 2025 at $499.99 for the 8GB + 128GB model. Samsung and Amazon sell it unlocked. It sits in the upper mid-range, below the Galaxy S25 FE.
Design and display
The phone has a flat 6.7-inch Super AMOLED screen with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Samsung rates it at 1,200 nits in High Brightness Mode, and Vision Booster helps in daylight. Gorilla Glass Victus+ covers both the front and the back.
Unlike the A36 and A26, the A56 uses a metal frame. Reviewers describe it as brushed aluminum. The body is 7.4mm thick and weighs 198 grams. It carries an IP67 rating for dust and water. The phone comes in Awesome Lightgray, Awesome Graphite, Awesome Olive and Awesome Pink. Only three colors reached the US.
Performance
Inside is Samsung’s Exynos 1580, a 4nm chip. It has one 2.9GHz core, three 2.6GHz cores and four 1.95GHz cores. The GPU is the Xclipse 540. Samsung says a larger vapor chamber helps keep performance steady.
RAM and storage options are 8GB + 128GB, 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 256GB, depending on the market. There is no microSD slot. Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC and USB-C 2.0 are on board, and the phone supports two nano-SIMs or eSIM.
Cameras
The main camera has 50MP, an f/1.8 lens and optical stabilization. It works with a 12MP ultrawide and a 5MP macro camera. The 12MP ultrawide is an upgrade over the 8MP units of the A36 and A26. The rear cameras record 4K video at 30fps.
The 12MP front camera records 4K video at 30fps and supports 10-bit HDR. Best Face combines expressions from several frames in group shots. In the 2025 A series, only the A56 has it.
Battery and charging
The 5,000mAh battery supports 45W wired charging, up from 25W on the Galaxy A55. Samsung quotes up to 29 hours of video playback. There is no wireless charging, and no charger comes in the box.
Software and updates
The A56 launched with Android 15 and One UI 7. Samsung promises six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates. Awesome Intelligence brings Circle to Search, Object Eraser and custom Filters, and Samsung Knox Vault protects sensitive data.
Should you buy the Galaxy A56 5G?
The Galaxy A56 5G suits buyers who want long software support, IP67 protection and an aluminum frame. It is the only 2025 A-series model with a 12MP ultrawide and 4K selfie video. Its successor, the Galaxy A57 5G, arrived in 2026, so check prices of both before buying.
