The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is the slimmest phone in Samsung‘s Galaxy S25 series. Samsung teased it in January 2025 and announced it on May 13, 2025. Sales started in South Korea on May 23 and in the US on May 30. The US launch price was $1,099.99 for 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. It sits between the Galaxy S25+ and the Galaxy S25 Ultra in the lineup.
Design and display
The body is 5.8 mm thick and weighs 163 grams. Samsung uses a titanium frame, Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on the front and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the back. The phone also carries an IP68 rating for dust and water.
The 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen has a QHD+ resolution of 1440 x 3120 pixels. Its refresh rate adapts from 1 Hz to 120 Hz, and it supports HDR10+. In addition, an ultrasonic fingerprint reader sits under the display.
Performance
Inside is a Snapdragon 8 Elite tuned for Galaxy phones, the same chip used in every Galaxy S25 model. Its fastest CPU cores run at up to 4.47 GHz, and the GPU is an Adreno 830. Every version has 12 GB of RAM, with 256 GB or 512 GB of UFS 4.0 storage. There is no microSD slot.
To manage heat in the thin body, Samsung redesigned the vapor chamber. It is now thinner but covers a larger area.
Cameras
The rear has two cameras. The main one uses a 200 MP sensor with an f/1.7 lens and optical stabilization. Samsung says it offers 2x optical-quality zoom by cropping the sensor. The second camera is a 12 MP ultrawide with autofocus, so it can also take macro shots.
However, there is no dedicated telephoto lens. The front camera has 12 MP and an f/2.2 lens. The rear cameras record video at up to 8K and 30 fps, while the front camera goes up to 4K at 60 fps.
Battery and charging
The battery has a typical capacity of 3,900 mAh, the smallest in the Galaxy S25 series. Wired charging tops out at 25 W, and Samsung says it reaches 55% in about 30 minutes. The phone also supports 15 W wireless charging and Wireless PowerShare for other devices. Note that the charger is sold separately.
Software and updates
The Galaxy S25 Edge launched with Android 15 and One UI 7. Samsung promises seven major OS upgrades and seven years of security updates. It also ships with the same Galaxy AI tools as the rest of the series, including Audio Eraser, Drawing Assist and Now Brief.
For connectivity, it supports 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC and ultra-wideband. There is no headphone jack.
Should you buy the Galaxy S25 Edge?
The Galaxy S25 Edge suits buyers who want a large, sharp screen in a very thin and light body. It also suits people who value long software support and a high-resolution main camera.
On the other hand, it has a smaller battery than the Galaxy S25+, slower 25 W charging and no telephoto camera. Buyers who need optical zoom or the largest battery should look at the Galaxy S25+ or Galaxy S25 Ultra instead. Also, Samsung did not release a Galaxy S26 Edge, so this model has no direct successor.
