The Xperia 10 IV is a light mid-range 5G phone from Sony. It was announced on May 11, 2022, and went on sale in Europe from mid-June 2022. In Europe, it launched at €499, and in the UK it cost £429. Japan followed in July 2022. Sony does not sell it in the US. The phone centers on low weight, a large battery and media features.
Design and display
The body measures 153 x 67 x 8.3 mm and weighs 161 g. Sony built the narrow shape around a 67 mm width for easier one-handed use. The frame and back are plastic, while the front uses Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. The phone carries IP65 and IP68 ratings for dust and water resistance.
The 6-inch OLED panel uses a tall 21:9 shape and a 2520 x 1080 resolution. Its refresh rate stays at 60 Hz. Sony says it is brighter than the Xperia 10 III panel. Four colors were sold in all markets: Black, White, Mint and Lavender.
Performance
The phone runs on the Snapdragon 695, a 6 nm mid-range platform with 5G support. Every version has 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of UFS storage. A microSD slot adds up to 1 TB more. Sony lists nano-SIM plus eSIM on its Asian specs pages.
Cameras
The rear has three cameras. The main one has 12 MP, a 1/2.8-inch Exmor R sensor, an f/1.8 lens and optical stabilization. An 8 MP telephoto lens provides 2x optical zoom at 54 mm. An 8 MP ultrawide lens covers a 120-degree view. The front camera has 8 MP and an f/2.0 lens.
Video tops out at 1080p, at 60 fps on the rear cameras and 30 fps on the front. There is no 4K recording on this model.
Battery and charging
The battery holds 5,000 mAh. Charging works over USB Power Delivery, but Sony does not list a wattage for the phone. Reviewers measured about 20 W at the start of a charge. There is no wireless charging, and no charger comes in the box. Xperia Adaptive Charging and Battery Care are meant to reduce wear.
Software and updates
The phone shipped with Android 12 and later moved to Android 13 and Android 14. Sony’s policy covers two major OS upgrades and up to three years of security updates. Both windows have now passed. Audio features include a 3.5 mm headphone jack, LDAC, aptX Adaptive, DSEE Ultimate and 360 Reality Audio. It has a single mono speaker. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC and a USB-C 2.0 port. The side-mounted fingerprint reader handles unlocking.
Should you buy the Xperia 10 IV?
The Xperia 10 IV suits buyers who want a narrow, light phone with long battery life. A headphone jack, a microSD slot and a 2x telephoto camera add practical value. However, the 60 Hz screen, 1080p video limit and mono speaker are clear limits. Its promised update period has also ended, which matters for security. Newer models include the Xperia 10 V, which Sony released in 2023.
