The Xiaomi 12 Lite is a slim mid-range 5G phone that Xiaomi introduced in July 2022. Its global launch price was $399 for the 6GB/128GB version. In Germany, the 8GB/128GB version launched at €449.90. Xiaomi has since discontinued the phone, and its official European stores no longer sell it.
Design and display
The phone measures 159.3 x 73.7 x 7.29 mm and weighs 173 g. It pairs a plastic frame with a matte glass back. Xiaomi rates it IP53 for dust and water resistance. Xiaomi sold it in three colors: Black, Lite Green, and Lite Pink.
The 6.55-inch AMOLED screen has a 2400 x 1080 resolution and 402 ppi. It switches between 60Hz and 120Hz. Peak brightness reaches 950 nits, and the panel supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+. Corning Gorilla Glass 5 covers the display.
Performance
The phone runs on the Snapdragon 778G. Its Kryo 670 CPU cores reach 2.4GHz, and the GPU is an Adreno 642L. Xiaomi offered 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM with 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. There is no microSD slot, so the storage you buy is final.
Cameras
The rear setup has three cameras. The main 108MP camera uses a 1/1.52-inch sensor and an f/1.9 lens. An 8MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro camera sit beside it. Xiaomi confirms that the phone supports electronic stabilization but not optical stabilization. Rear video reaches 4K at 30fps.
The 32MP front camera has a 1/2.8-inch sensor, an f/2.45 lens, and autofocus. Two front LEDs provide extra light for selfies in dark places.
Battery and charging
The 4300mAh battery charges at up to 67W, and the charger comes in the box. Xiaomi says a full charge takes about 41 minutes. Wireless charging is not available.
Software and updates
The phone launched with Android 12 and MIUI 13. Xiaomi lists July 1, 2026 as the end of security support, so that support has now ended. Notebookcheck reported that Xiaomi Germany confirmed no update commitment at launch.
Should you buy the 12 Lite?
The phone is no longer produced, and its security support has ended. That makes it hard to recommend as a main phone today. It may still suit buyers who find a low-priced unit. The light body, autofocus selfie camera, and fast charging are its main strengths. Anyone who wants a newer model from the same line can look at the Xiaomi 13 Lite, its successor.
