The Huawei P60 Pro is a camera-focused flagship phone from Huawei. The company announced it in China on March 23, 2023, and sales there began on March 30. A global launch followed on May 9, 2023, with sales across Europe and the UK. In Europe, it launched at €1,199 for 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. The phone is not sold in the US. In 2024, Huawei moved its camera flagships to the Pura name, and the Pura 70 Pro followed.
Design and display
The P60 Pro has a 6.67-inch LTPO OLED screen at 2700 x 1220 pixels. Its refresh rate adapts between 1 Hz and 120 Hz. Huawei also lists 1440 Hz PWM dimming and a touch sampling rate of up to 300 Hz. The glass curves on all four sides, and Kunlun Glass protects the display.
The body measures 161 x 74.5 x 8.3 mm and weighs about 200 g. It uses an aluminum frame and has an IP68 rating for dust and water. Outside China, Huawei sold it in Rococo Pearl and Black. The China launch added Green and Purple. On Rococo Pearl, the pearl pattern is different on every unit.
Performance
Inside is a 4G version of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. Its CPU pairs one Cortex-X2 core at 3.2 GHz with three Cortex-A710 and four Cortex-A510 cores. Global units have 8 GB of RAM with 256 GB, or 12 GB with 512 GB. China also got a 12 GB and 256 GB version. Mobile data tops out at LTE, so there is no 5G. Instead of microSD, the phone takes Huawei’s own Nano Memory cards.
Cameras
The 48 MP main camera has a variable f/1.4 to f/4.0 aperture and optical stabilization. Next to it sits a 13 MP ultrawide camera with an f/2.2 lens. The third camera is a 48 MP periscope telephoto with an f/2.1 aperture and optical stabilization. It gives 3.5x optical zoom at about 90 mm and up to 100x digital zoom. Both the main and telephoto sensors use an RYYB layout.
The front camera has 13 MP and an f/2.4 lens. The main and telephoto cameras record 4K video at up to 60 fps. The ultrawide camera stops at 4K at 30 fps.
Battery and charging
The battery has a typical capacity of 4815 mAh. Wired charging reaches 88 W with the Huawei SuperCharge charger in the box. The phone also supports 50 W wireless charging with Huawei’s own wireless charger, sold separately. It can share power through 7.5 W reverse wireless charging.
Software and updates
Outside China, the P60 Pro runs EMUI 13.1, which is based on open-source Android. It has no Google services, so apps come from Huawei AppGallery. The China model runs HarmonyOS 3.1 and adds two-way BeiDou satellite messaging. Huawei did not publish a fixed update policy for this phone.
Should you buy the Huawei P60 Pro?
The P60 Pro suits buyers who care most about photos, especially zoom and low-light shots. Its variable aperture and bright periscope lens are the main reasons to pick it. It also has fast wired and wireless charging and an IP68 rating. However, it lacks 5G and Google services, which limits app choice outside China. Buyers who need those features should look at its rivals or the newer Pura 70 Pro.
