The Huawei P60 is the base model of the 2023 P60 series from Huawei. The company announced it in China on March 23, 2023, alongside the P60 Pro. Sales in China began on March 30, from 4,488 yuan for 8 GB and 128 GB. An international version, LNA-LX9, later reached Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Mongolia. Huawei did not sell the P60 in Western Europe, the UK or the US. In 2024, Huawei renamed the series, and the Pura 70 followed.
Design and display
The P60 uses the same 6.67-inch LTPO OLED screen as the P60 Pro. It runs at 2700 x 1220 pixels and adapts between 1 Hz and 120 Hz. Huawei lists 1440 Hz PWM dimming and touch sampling of up to 300 Hz. The body measures 161 x 74.5 x 8.3 mm and weighs about 197 g. It is rated IP68 for dust and water.
Huawei sold the international model in Black and Green. In China, the phone also came in Rococo Pearl and Purple. Rococo Pearl has a pearl pattern that differs on every unit.
Performance
The phone runs on a 4G version of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. Huawei clocks it lower than in the P60 Pro. The fastest Cortex-X2 core runs at 3.0 GHz instead of 3.2 GHz. Every version has 8 GB of RAM, with 128 GB, 256 GB or 512 GB of storage. Mobile data is limited to LTE, so the P60 has no 5G.
Cameras
The main camera matches the P60 Pro. It has a 48 MP sensor, a variable aperture from f/1.4 to f/4.0 and optical stabilization. A 13 MP ultrawide camera with an f/2.2 lens sits next to it. The telephoto is the main difference from the Pro. The P60 uses a 12 MP periscope camera with an f/3.4 aperture and optical stabilization.
That lens gives 5x optical zoom at about 125 mm and up to 50x digital zoom. The front camera has 13 MP and an f/2.4 lens. Both the front and rear cameras record video at up to 4K resolution.
Battery and charging
The battery has a typical capacity of 4815 mAh, the same as the P60 Pro. Wired charging is slower, at up to 66 W with the Huawei SuperCharge charger in the box. Wireless charging reaches 50 W with Huawei’s own wireless charger, which is sold separately.
Software and updates
The international LNA-LX9 model runs EMUI 13.1 without Google services, so apps come from Huawei AppGallery. The China model runs HarmonyOS 3.1. It also supports two-way BeiDou satellite messaging, which the international model does not. Huawei did not publish a fixed update policy for the P60.
Should you buy the Huawei P60?
The P60 suits buyers who want the P60 Pro’s main camera and screen at a lower price. It keeps the variable aperture, IP68 rating and 50 W wireless charging. In return, it has a weaker 12 MP telephoto and slower 66 W wired charging. It also lacks 5G and Google services, and it was never sold in Western Europe or the US. Buyers outside China and CIS markets should look at the P60 Pro or the newer Pura 70.
