Performance
The phone runs on a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 with a top CPU clock of 2.63 GHz and an Adreno 720 GPU. It has up to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 2.2 storage. India gets 256GB versions, while Europe gets a 12GB and 512GB model. There is no microSD slot.
The USB-C port supports USB 3.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 output. Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4 and NFC are included. The phone takes one nano-SIM and one eSIM.
Cameras
The main camera uses a 50MP 1/1.55-inch sensor with an f/1.4 lens and OIS. A 13MP ultrawide covers a 120-degree view and also works as a macro camera. A 10MP telephoto adds 3x optical zoom with OIS.
The front camera has 50MP and autofocus. The rear and front cameras record 4K video at 30 fps. Pantone has validated the colors of the camera and the display.
Battery and charging
The battery holds 4,500 mAh. It supports 125W TurboPower wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Reverse wireless charging is also available. In Europe, the 125W charger comes in the box. In India, the 8GB model ships with a 68W charger instead.
Software and updates
The phone launched with Android 14 and a near-stock interface. Motorola promises three Android upgrades and four years of security updates. A business edition with five years of security updates is sold in selected markets.
Should you buy the Edge 50 Pro?
The Edge 50 Pro suits buyers who want fast wired and wireless charging, a 3x telephoto camera and an IP68 body. Its 186-gram weight also makes it easy to hold. However, it uses slower UFS 2.2 storage and records video only up to 4K at 30 fps. The update promise is shorter than on some newer rivals, and the phone is not sold in the US.
