The Motorola Moto G14 is an entry-level 4G phone from the Moto G family. Motorola announced it in India on August 1, 2023. There, the only 4 GB and 128 GB version cost INR 9,999. The phone then reached Europe and Latin America in August 2023. In Germany, it launched at €149.99. It replaced the Moto G13 and was followed by the Moto G15.
Design and display
The phone has a 6.5-inch IPS LCD. Its Full HD+ resolution is 2400 x 1080 pixels, or 405 ppi. The refresh rate is 60 Hz, and the selfie camera sits in a small hole in the screen. The body measures 161.46 x 73.82 x 7.99 mm and weighs 177 grams.
Motorola sold it in four colors. Steel Gray and Sky Blue have a smooth back. Butter Cream and Pale Lilac use a vegan leather finish. The vegan leather colors arrived a few weeks after launch. The phone carries an IP52 rating, so it handles light splashes but not submersion.
Performance
Inside is the Unisoc T616, an octa-core chip built on a 12 nm process. It pairs two Cortex-A75 cores at 2.0 GHz with six Cortex-A55 cores at 1.8 GHz. Graphics come from a Mali-G57 MP1 GPU.
Every version has 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of UFS 2.2 storage. A dedicated microSD slot accepts cards of up to 1 TB. Both SIM slots stay free. The chip suits messaging, browsing, and streaming rather than demanding games.
Cameras
The rear setup has two cameras. The main 50 MP sensor has an f/1.8 lens, phase-detection autofocus, and Quad Pixel binning. A 2 MP macro camera handles close-up shots. There is no ultrawide or telephoto lens, and the main camera has no optical stabilization.
On the front, an 8 MP camera with an f/2.0 lens takes selfies. Both the rear and front cameras record video at up to 1080p and 30 fps.
Battery and charging
A 5,000 mAh battery powers the phone. It supports 15 W wired charging through a USB-C 2.0 port. Wireless charging is not available. The charger in the box varies by market. European units ship with a 10 W adapter, and Indian units include a 20 W charger.
Other features include stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, Wi-Fi 5, and Bluetooth 5.0. The side fingerprint reader sits in the power button. European models support NFC, but the Indian model does not.
Software and updates
The Moto G14 launched with Android 13 and Motorola’s My UX interface. Motorola promised one major Android upgrade, to Android 14, and three years of security updates. Security support ended in August 2026.
Should you buy the Moto G14?
The Moto G14 suits buyers who want a low-cost phone with a sharp screen. It offers 128 GB of storage, stereo speakers, and a headphone jack. However, it lacks 5G, its display runs at only 60 Hz, and its security updates have ended. For a budget Motorola phone with current updates, look at its successor, the Moto G15.
