The Motorola Moto G35 is a budget 5G phone that Motorola announced on August 29, 2024. Its official full name is moto g35 5G. It launched in Europe at €199 with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Later, it also reached the UK, India, Latin America and parts of the Middle East and Africa. It is not sold in the US.
Design and display
The phone has a 6.72-inch LCD with a 2400 x 1080 resolution and 391 ppi. The panel runs at up to 120Hz, supports HDR10 and reaches a peak brightness of 1,000 nits. Corning Gorilla Glass 3 covers the screen.
The Leaf Green and Guava Red models use a vegan leather back. Midnight Black has a matte acrylic finish instead. The body measures 166.07 x 75.98 x 7.79 mm. It weighs 192 grams with vegan leather and 188 grams with acrylic. Motorola describes the build as water-repellent in Europe, while its Indian page lists IP52.
Performance
Inside is the 6nm Unisoc T760. It pairs four Cortex-A76 cores at 2.2GHz with four Cortex-A55 cores and a Mali-G57 MC4 GPU. Memory options are 4GB or 8GB of RAM with 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. A microSD slot adds up to 1TB, but it shares space with the second SIM in India.
In typical Geekbench 6 results, the chip scores about 740 single-core and 2,130 multi-core. Notebookcheck found that the slow chip sometimes delays navigation when apps run in the background.
Cameras
The rear setup has two cameras. The main camera uses a 50MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and autofocus. It combines four pixels into one, so photos come out at 12.5MP. Next to it sits an 8MP ultrawide camera with a 120-degree field of view.
There is no optical image stabilization. The main camera records 4K video at 30fps. On the front, a 16MP selfie camera records 1080p video at 30fps.
Battery and charging
A 5,000mAh battery powers the phone. It supports 18W wired charging over USB-C 2.0. Wireless charging is not available. In Europe, the box does not include a charger. However, the Indian version ships with a 20W charger.
Software and updates
The Moto G35 launched with Android 14 and a near-stock interface. Motorola has since delivered Android 15 and Android 16. In Europe, Motorola promises security updates until August 2027. The Indian page lists a shorter promise of one OS update and two years of security patches.
Other features include stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a side-mounted fingerprint reader. The European model has NFC and supports one nano-SIM plus an eSIM. The Indian model drops NFC and uses two nano-SIM slots instead.
Should you buy the Moto G35?
The Moto G35 suits buyers who want a large 120Hz screen, a headphone jack and 5G for little money. It also records 4K video and keeps a microSD slot. On the other hand, the Unisoc T760 is slow, and the main camera lacks stabilization. Shoppers who play games or want longer support should look at newer models.
