The Motorola Moto G75 5G is a mid-range phone that Motorola announced on September 30, 2024. It launched first in Europe and the Middle East, with Latin America and Asia-Pacific to follow. In Europe, its starting price was €299. Durability is the main theme. It is the first Moto G phone with a MIL-STD-810H rating, and it is also IP68 rated.
Design and display
The phone has a plastic frame and a 6.78-inch LCD panel. Its Full HD+ resolution is 2388 x 1080 (387 ppi). The screen refreshes at up to 120 Hz and reaches 1,000 nits in high brightness mode. Corning Gorilla Glass 5 covers the front, and Water Touch keeps the screen usable with wet fingers.
Motorola offers two finishes. Charcoal Grey has a matte back, while Aqua Blue and Succulent Green use vegan leather. The matte model weighs 205 g and is 8.34 mm thick. The vegan leather models weigh 208 g and measure 8.44 mm. Motorola says the phone survives drops of up to 1.2 meters. It can also stay in 1.5 meters of fresh water for 30 minutes.
Performance
The Moto G75 5G was the first phone announced with the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. This 4 nm chip has four Cortex-A78 cores at 2.4 GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores at 1.8 GHz. Graphics come from the Adreno 710. It comes with 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256 GB of UFS 2.2 storage. A microSD slot adds up to 1 TB more. Connectivity includes 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4 and NFC.
Cameras
The main camera uses a 50 MP Sony LYTIA 600 sensor. It has an f/1.79 lens and optical image stabilization. Next to it sits an 8 MP ultrawide camera that also handles macro shots. On the front, there is a 16 MP selfie camera. Both the rear cameras and the front camera can record 4K video at 30 fps. A flicker sensor helps reduce banding under artificial light.
Battery and charging
A 5,000 mAh battery powers the phone. It supports 30W TurboPower wired charging and 15W wireless charging, which is rare at this price. However, the UK box has no charger. It includes a USB-C cable and a protective case.
Software and updates
The phone shipped with Android 14 and a light Motorola layer. It adds Moto gestures, Moto Secure and Smart Connect. Motorola promises five Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates. That is a long support window for a Moto G model.
Should you buy the Moto G75 5G?
The Moto G75 5G suits buyers who want a tough, water-resistant phone with long software support. It also makes sense for people who value wireless charging, stereo speakers and expandable storage. On the other hand, it uses an LCD panel instead of OLED, and it has no headphone jack. It is also fairly heavy at over 200 g. Finally, it is not part of Motorola’s US lineup, so US buyers would need an imported unit.
