The OnePlus 11R is an upper mid-range phone that OnePlus announced on February 7, 2023, alongside the OnePlus 11. It was sold only in India, where sales started on February 28, 2023. The launch price was Rs. 39,999 for the 8 GB / 128 GB model. In China, the same phone is sold as the OnePlus Ace 2.
Design and display
The 11R borrows the look of the OnePlus 11, with a large round camera module that wraps into the frame. It also brings back the alert slider. The frame is plastic, and the standard models use a Gorilla Glass 5 back. The phone measures 163.4 x 74.3 x 8.7 mm and weighs 204 g. There is no official IP rating.
Colors at launch were Sonic Black and Galactic Silver. In October 2023, OnePlus added a Solar Red edition in India. It has a textured vegan leather back, 18 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. That version is 8.96 mm thick and weighs 202 g.
The 6.74-inch curved AMOLED screen has a 2772 x 1240 resolution, or 450 ppi. It refreshes at up to 120 Hz and supports HDR10+. The panel is not LTPO, so it switches between fixed steps instead of dropping to 1 Hz.
Performance
The phone runs on the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 with the Adreno 730 GPU. It is the same chip that powered the OnePlus 10T. Memory options are 8 GB or 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM with 128 GB or 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. There is no microSD slot.
Cameras
The rear setup has three cameras. The main one uses a 50 MP Sony IMX890 sensor with a 1/1.56-inch size, an f/1.8 lens and optical stabilization. An 8 MP ultrawide with a 120-degree view and a 2 MP macro camera complete the set. There is no telephoto lens. The rear cameras record 4K video at up to 60 fps. On the front, a 16 MP camera records 1080p video at 30 fps.
Battery and charging
A 5,000 mAh battery powers the 11R. It supports 100W SUPERVOOC wired charging, and the charger comes in the box. OnePlus says a full charge takes about 25 minutes. Wireless charging is not supported.
Software and updates
The phone shipped with OxygenOS 13 based on Android 13. OnePlus promised three major Android updates and four years of security patches. Other features include stereo speakers, NFC, an IR blaster, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3 and an optical in-display fingerprint reader.
Should you buy the OnePlus 11R?
The 11R suits buyers in India who want flagship-level speed and fast charging for less money. However, it was never sold in the US or Europe, and it has no IP rating. Its software support is also shorter than on newer models. OnePlus has since released the OnePlus 12R as its successor, so buyers should compare both before choosing.
