The Samsung Galaxy A35 5G is a mid-range phone. Samsung announced it on March 11, 2024, alongside the Galaxy A55 5G. In the US, it went on sale on April 18, 2024, starting at $399.99. In Europe, the 6GB + 128GB model cost €379. The phone is now discontinued, and the Galaxy A36 5G took its place.
Design and display
The Galaxy A35 5G has a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED screen with a 1080 x 2340 resolution. It refreshes at up to 120Hz and reaches 1,000 nits in high brightness mode. Vision Booster improves visibility outdoors. Compared with the Galaxy A34 5G, the selfie camera now sits in a punch hole instead of a notch.
Gorilla Glass Victus+ protects the display, and the back is glass as well. The frame is plastic. The phone measures 161.7 x 78.0 x 8.2 mm and weighs 209 g. It is rated IP67 for dust and water resistance.
Performance
The phone runs on the Exynos 1380, the same chip used in the Galaxy A54 5G. Its CPU has eight cores with a top speed of 2.4GHz. Graphics come from a Mali-G68 MP5 GPU. Samsung sold versions with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. A hybrid slot takes microSD cards up to 1TB.
Cameras
There are three rear cameras. The 50MP main camera has an f/1.8 lens, autofocus and optical image stabilization. An 8MP ultrawide and a 5MP macro camera complete the setup. Zoom is digital only, up to 10x.
On the front, a 13MP camera with an f/2.2 lens handles selfies. The rear cameras record video at up to 4K and 30 fps.
Battery and charging
The battery has a typical capacity of 5,000mAh. Samsung rates it for up to 23 hours of LTE web browsing. Wired charging goes up to 25W, though the charger is not included. Wireless charging is not supported.
Software and updates
The Galaxy A35 5G launched with Android 14 and One UI 6.1. Samsung promised four Android upgrades and five years of security updates. Its security support runs until March 31, 2028. The phone also gets Samsung Knox Vault, which isolates passwords and encryption keys in separate hardware.
Should you buy the Galaxy A35 5G?
The Galaxy A35 5G fits buyers on a moderate budget. It offers a large AMOLED screen, IP67 protection and long update support. Its glass back and microSD slot add value. However, it is no longer produced, and Samsung’s US and UK stores no longer sell it. Buyers who want a current model should look at the Galaxy A36 5G.
