The Galaxy S24+ is the large-screen model of the Samsung Galaxy S24 lineup. Samsung announced it at Galaxy Unpacked on January 17, 2024. Sales started on January 31, 2024. In the US, it launched at $999.99 with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The phone is now discontinued, and its successor is the Galaxy S25+.
Design and display
The S24+ has a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen. Its resolution rose to QHD+ (1440 x 3120 pixels), the same level as the S24 Ultra. The refresh rate adapts from 1Hz to 120Hz. Samsung rates peak brightness at 2,600 nits.
Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protects the front and the back. The frame is Armor Aluminum, and the phone is rated IP68. It measures 158.5 x 75.9 x 7.7 mm and weighs 196 to 197 grams. Buyers could choose from four standard colors and three online-exclusive colors.
Performance
US models use a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 tuned for Galaxy phones, with an Adreno 750 GPU. In Europe and Korea, the S24+ runs on the Exynos 2400 instead. All versions have 12GB of RAM.
Storage comes in 256GB and 512GB versions. There is no microSD slot.
Cameras
The camera hardware matches the base model. The 50MP main camera has an f/1.8 lens and optical stabilization. A 12MP ultrawide camera and a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom complete the rear setup.
Video recording goes up to 8K at 30 frames per second. The 12MP front camera records 4K at up to 60 frames per second.
Battery and charging
The S24+ has a 4,900mAh battery, which is larger than the one in the Galaxy S23+. It supports 45W wired charging. Samsung quotes about 65% in 30 minutes with its 45W adapter. Wireless charging runs at up to 15W, and Wireless PowerShare can top up accessories. The box does not include a charger.
Software and updates
The phone launched with Android 14 and One UI 6.1, including Galaxy AI tools. Samsung promises seven Android upgrades and seven years of security updates. That makes it one of the longest-supported phones of its generation.
Should you buy the Galaxy S24+?
The Galaxy S24+ fits buyers who want a big QHD+ screen and 45W charging. It costs less than the Ultra. It skips the S Pen, the titanium frame and the 5x periscope camera. It is also no longer produced, so the Galaxy S25+ is the current model in this class.
