The Samsung Galaxy S25 is a compact flagship Android phone that Samsung announced on January 22, 2025, at a Galaxy Unpacked event in San Jose, California. The phone went on sale on February 7, 2025, with a starting price of $799 for the 128GB configuration. It sits below the Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra as the smallest model in Samsung’s 2025 Samsung Galaxy S line.
Design and display
The Galaxy S25 measures 146.9 x 70.5 x 7.2mm and weighs 162 grams. It has an aluminum frame and a glass back, both protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The phone carries an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
Its 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen has a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels, which works out to 416 pixels per inch. The panel refreshes at up to 120Hz and can scale down for static content to save power. Samsung rates its peak brightness at 2,600 nits, and it supports HDR10+ but not Dolby Vision.
Performance
Every Galaxy S25 model uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset, built on a 3nm process and paired with an Adreno 830 GPU. The phone ships with 12GB of RAM and a choice of 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage, and none of these can be expanded with a memory card. In Geekbench 6 testing, the Galaxy S25 scored 3031 in the single-core test and 9626 in the multi-core test.
Cameras
The rear camera system has three lenses: a 50MP main sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilization, a 12MP ultrawide sensor with an f/2.2 aperture, and a 10MP telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom and an f/2.4 aperture. The front camera uses a 12MP sensor. The rear cameras can record video up to 8K resolution at 30fps, while the front camera tops out at 4K at 60fps.
Battery and charging
The Galaxy S25 has a 4,000mAh battery. It supports 25W wired charging, 15W Qi2-ready wireless charging, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging for accessories. Samsung does not include a charger in the box, so buyers need to supply their own.
Software and updates
The Galaxy S25 launched with Android 15 and Samsung’s One UI 7 on top. Samsung promises seven years of Android version upgrades and seven years of security updates for the phone, matching the policy it set with the Galaxy S24 series a year earlier.
Should you buy the Galaxy S25?
The Galaxy S25 suits buyers who want a compact Android flagship with a fast chipset and a long software update commitment. Its camera hardware carries over largely unchanged from the Galaxy S24, so anyone upgrading from that model should not expect a major photography leap. Buyers who prioritize longer battery life or a larger screen may prefer the Galaxy S25+ or Galaxy S25 Ultra instead.
