The vivo X100 is the standard model of the X100 series. vivo announced it in China on November 13, 2023, together with the X100 Pro. Global sales began in December 2023, and the phone reached India in January 2024. It was sold in China, India and Southeast Asia, but not in the US or Europe.
Design and display
The X100 has a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen with a 2800 x 1260 resolution and 452 ppi. The refresh rate goes up to 120 Hz. vivo quotes a local peak brightness of 3,000 nits and full DCI-P3 color coverage.
Outside China, the phone comes in Asteroid Black and Startrail Blue. Chinese buyers could also pick White Moonlight and Sunset Orange. The Sunset Orange model uses vegan leather, so it is 8.74 mm thick and weighs 202 g. The glass versions measure 164.05 x 75.19 x 8.49 mm and weigh 206 g. The phone is rated IP68.
Performance
The X100 runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 9300, the same 4 nm chip as the X100 Pro. Its fastest core runs at up to 3.25 GHz, and the GPU is the Immortalis-G720. Global versions have 12 GB + 256 GB or 16 GB + 512 GB with UFS 4.0 storage. In China, vivo also sold 16 GB + 256 GB and 16 GB + 1 TB versions. One 1 TB edition uses faster LPDDR5T memory. There is no microSD slot.
Cameras
The rear camera module has ZEISS optics and three sensors. The 50 MP main camera has an f/1.57 lens and optical stabilization. A 64 MP telephoto camera offers 3x optical zoom with an f/2.57 lens and its own stabilization. A 50 MP ultrawide camera completes the setup.
A laser focus sensor and a flicker sensor support the cameras. The selfie camera has 32 MP. On its China specs page, vivo lists 4K as the top video resolution.
Battery and charging
The battery uses two cells with a combined capacity equal to 5,000 mAh. Wired charging reaches 120 W, and a charger comes in the box. The X100 does not support wireless charging, which is one of the main differences from the X100 Pro. The USB-C port uses USB 2.0.
Software and updates
Global units shipped with Funtouch OS 14 based on Android 14. Chinese units use OriginOS 4. Sources give different numbers for the update promise, so we do not list one. Other features include NFC, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and an infrared blaster. The global model takes two nano-SIM cards.
Should you buy the vivo X100?
The X100 suits buyers who want flagship performance and a 3x telephoto camera for less than the X100 Pro. It charges faster with a cable than the Pro. However, it lacks wireless charging and the 1-inch main sensor of its sibling. It was never sold in the US or Europe. The X200 is its successor.
