The vivo X200 is the base model of the X200 flagship series. vivo announced it in China on October 14, 2024. The global launch started in Malaysia on November 19, 2024, and India followed in December. In Europe, it costs €999 for the 12 GB + 256 GB version. The phone is not officially sold in the US.
Design and display
The X200 has a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with a 2800 x 1260 resolution. vivo calls it the ZEISS Master Color Display. The refresh rate goes up to 120 Hz, and local peak brightness reaches 4,500 nits. PWM dimming runs at 2160 Hz.
The body is rated IP68 and IP69 for dust and water resistance. It measures 160.27 x 74.81 x 7.99 mm. The Carbon Black model weighs 197 g and has a glass fiber back. The other colors use a glass back and weigh 202 g.
Performance
The phone uses the same chip as the X200 Pro: the MediaTek Dimensity 9400. It is built on a 3 nm process and pairs with an Immortalis-G925 GPU. The global versions offer 12 GB + 256 GB or 16 GB + 512 GB of UFS 4.0 storage. There is no microSD slot.
Cameras
The rear camera system has three 50 MP cameras. The main camera uses a Sony IMX921 sensor with a 1/1.56-inch size and an f/1.57 lens. The ZEISS telephoto camera uses a Sony IMX882 sensor with 3x optical zoom. Both of them have optical stabilization. A 50 MP ultrawide camera covers wider scenes.
The front camera has 32 MP and records 4K video. The rear cameras also shoot 4K video, including 10-bit Log footage.
Battery and charging
The global X200 has a 5,800 mAh battery with a third-generation silicon anode. It charges at up to 90W, and the charger comes in the box. There is no wireless charging. The version sold in Austria and Germany has a smaller 5,220 mAh battery.
Software and updates
Outside China, the phone ships with Funtouch OS 15 based on Android 15. vivo promises four Android version upgrades and five years of security updates. Other features include an optical in-display fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers, NFC and an IR blaster.
Should you buy the vivo X200?
The X200 suits buyers who want a flagship chip and a 3x telephoto camera. Its body is also smaller than the Pro’s. It also has a large battery and IP68 and IP69 ratings. However, it lacks wireless charging and has a slower USB 2.0 port. It is not sold in the US, and its successor, the X300, is already available.
