How we picked
We take phones from Chinese brands (Xiaomi, REDMI, POCO, HONOR, Huawei, OPPO, OnePlus, realme, vivo, iQOO, nubia, REDMAGIC, ZTE and Meizu) that are on sale in any market, including China only, and were announced in the last two years. Then we rank them by overall PhoneRanked score. Scores are calculated from specs, so every phone is judged by the same rules. Learn more about how we rate phones.
What to look for
Global version or China version?
Many Chinese flagships launch in China first and get a global version months later, sometimes under a different name. The global version comes with Google apps, local network bands and a warranty, so it's usually worth the wait.
Check the network bands
A China version may miss some US or European 5G and LTE bands, which can mean weaker coverage or no 5G on your carrier. Check the bands against your carrier before you import a phone.
Software and updates
China versions run the Chinese edition of the maker's software, without the Google Play Store. Update promises on our phone pages apply to the official versions in each market.
FAQ
What is the best Chinese phone right now?
Right now it's the OPPO Find X9 Ultra, with a PhoneRanked score of 9.4 out of 10. The OnePlus 15 and the POCO F9 Ultra round out the top three.
Can I use a China-only phone in the US or Europe?
Often yes, but with trade-offs. China versions usually come without Google apps and the Play Store, may miss some local 5G and LTE bands and have no local warranty. Phones marked "Not sold in US/EU" on this list are China-only for now; many get a global version a few months later.
Why is a phone missing from your main ranking?
Our main list of the best phones includes only phones officially sold in the US or Europe. China-only phones appear here instead, so you can still see how they compare.
How often is this list updated?
Automatically. When we add a phone or update its specs, the list is rebuilt within a few minutes. The date at the top of the page shows the last update.
